Grips are crisp and clean showing strong wood grain with no hand oil staining and only a few small chipped diamonds. Overall retains about 98% crisp orig finish with blued small parts and only slight muzzle end and sharp edge wear. CONDITION: Extremely fine, all matching including firing pin & grips. the backstrap as found here, both are correct. Some of these Navy marked pistols had their markings on the front strap vs. The magazine is correct and in great shape with no major defects. The bluing rates at 96-97 with minor high edge wear on the muzzle, sideplate and trigger guard. 3/2/20 - This is an all matching and original Mauser Luger from 1942, with Black Widow style grips and magazine. Although the 1938 S/42 Code pistols were produced in large numbers, 113,800, according to Third Reich Lugers Vol III, Still, only 2,400 were procured by the Kriegsmarine. Add to that the Navy marking on backstrap makes it an extremely rare pistol. The individual pictures of each rifle will be uploaded in the comments, I have some questions about parts pictured as well. According to Luger at Random, Kenyon, there were many thousands of these pistols produced 1936-1940 with the 1938 date the most scarce. This is the entirety of my three years of collecting, 7 K-98ks. Accompanied by one orig aluminum base matching numbered magazine which also with the “N2587” mark on the base.

Mounted with bright & clean full checkered walnut grips matching numbered to this pistol. Additionally below the trigger guard is hand stamped the number “0270” which number is also stamped on left side of toggle link. Chamber area of receiver is marked 1938 and toggle “S/42”. The chamber is dated '1938', and it has the secret wartime code of 'S/42' for the Mauser factory on the front toggle. These were the standard service pistols used all German troops, Wehrmacht, SS, Luftwaffe and Navy forces during WWII. In fact, what American collectors call the Luger pistol, is throughout the rest of the world known by the name Georg Luger himself gave Chapter 1 Luger History Chapters 1-6. This is an excellent example of an early pre-WWII German Luger pistol manufactured by the Mauser factory. Rare short bbl Navy Luger with 4″ bbl and orig front sight. Luger’s marketing genius in this regard equaled his genius in pistol design.
